A quick note about our wait-wish list: We really do our best to stay on top of it and call each customer when their long-awaited plant of choice comes in. Be aware that sometimes, rarely, things just don't work out as planned! Poor germination, bird gets in the greenhouse, super efficient tomato shelf stocking without updating the sales staff....

Tomatoes 2016
Confession time - it's WAY more than 120 varieties of tomatoes we're
growing this year!!
Below is our current list of what we're planning to grow this tomato season, but sometimes some irresistable variety comes to our attention and we just HAVE to add it on to our tomato program!!
They cannot all be out there at the same time due to space constraints - so check in with us with your longed-for tomato request and we will do our best to make sure you get your tomato of choice! Our varieties tend towards the Heirloom, Rare, Do-Well-In-Sonoma-County-Summers, or just plain Great!! Right now (March 5th) just the most cool tolerant or earliest producers are available, but more varieties will emerge daily!

A note about our tomatoes:- Because of the last few not-so-hot summers, we've chosen MANY tomato varieties that perform well in cooler summers - some Czech varieties, a couple of Siberian varieties, and some tomatoes bred for Pacific NW or San Francisco growers. Plant these starts and you are guaranteed tomatoes!!! My favorites? Cosmonaut Volkov, Stupice, Siletz, Glacier (non-stop 'saladette' type no matter how grey the skies), Juliet, Nyagous. New ones to watch for? Paul Robeson, Jellybean Yellow, Michael Pollan, Pink Berkeley Tie Dye! Of course we continue to carry the old favorites too......
The best time to plant Tomatoes in the ground is after the last 'Official Frost Date' for Sonoma County. Which is April 15th. Now this is an average, meaning we could get our last day of frost in March, or, horror of horrors, as late as mid-May. So, be aware of the nighttime temperatures in your area and be ready with frost cloth or your own favorite frost protection method for those tender tomatoes.
