Clematis 'Sweet Summer Love'

Though she be but little, she is fierce! Incredibly floriferous and long blooming, hundreds of 2", four petaled flowers with fluffy white anthers bloom a bright cranberry red tinged with plum. As the long lasting flowers age, they fade to a deep purple violet, then dusty lavender, covering the vigorous, deep green foliage with a jewel toned rainbow for months. But wait, there's more! Not only are these little powerhouses vividly colored, they are also strongly fragrant, giving off a perfume of vanilla, almond, and viola. Absolutely must be planted by a walkway, where their stunning fragrance can be properly enjoyed.

Size: 10-15' Tall Water: Regular

Pruning: In late January/early February, cut to 6-8” from ground level to a pair of buds. Then cut by half after the first flush of blooms is finished. Feed after each pruning session with well-balanced fertilizer.
